Eastmoreland 100 is a collaborative community project to commemorate and celebrate 100 years of public golf in the City of Portland.  The inspired idea to build public golf links came from a combination of public servants and private partnerships starting with the Superintendent of Parks and Recreation and leaders of the M.A.C. Club. Then gathering momentum with support from private golf clubs of Waverly, Tualatin and Portland and eventually the Mayor and City Commissioners.

The efforts to open Portland's first municipal golf links began in earnest in 1915 and through perseverance and community collaboration led to the grand opening on June 16, 1918.

Join us to celebrate and commemorate the vision to build a "sporting course" to rival any existing at the time.   A century later, the course remains a top ranked municipal golf course and served as the spawning ground for city champions, junior champions, national amatuer champions and PGA tour pros.

Oregon's history may be one of inequality, this municipal golf course proved to be beacon of equity and fairness where any person could come and play golf.  This is the story of how golf builds community with mutual respect for the love of a game.

What's your story about Eastmoreland Golf Course?  Did you play there recently? Maybe a relative or friend played there for years? This historical project will help document the vignettes that bring the course to life and brought so much joy (and sorrow) to those that walked the links.  Any old photos from your albums that might help us show what it was like to play the course in those early years,  the post WWII era and the heyday of the 1950's, or the the 1960's to present day. Your contribution are valued and will help weave together the full history.
Yes, I have a story!

This area is where the some of the best players at Eastmoreland will outline club selection and strategies to be one of the few to go low at Eastmoreland, or simply to avoid the "many hazards" the parcel of land holds in store for the uninitiated.
